Chatter bite died as soon as sun got higher and wind simmered down. Next morning I took Frank and his two sons out with almost the same results as the day before. Stayed in the narrows as it was pretty windy and hopped from point to point. Our spoon bite was interesting as we found the most active bass closer to the bank than I expected. The fishing was off during the day with no signs of activity at all till late evening when the sun started to set and the surface water started to cool down and then the action started. Went back to crank bait and Mark caught a nice bass and this began the catching part of the trip.

We drop-shotted a dink, then headed for the main body where my previous trips had worked out well. We fished all over the lake and each one of us caught limits of quality bass from 2 1/2 to 4 pounds. I found the bite very spotty and we really had to work to get bites. We did much better then the day time. Report: I took a friend from Church and his 9 year old son to Berryessa today. We wound up with several nice bass of all three species. Report: Got out to fish this nice weather, got on about 7:30am hooked up within 30 with a deep diving crank. Needless to say it was not an easy task! We were fishing evening shadows on a deep wall. Surface temp is lower than I prefer but was expecting to find more active fish feeding before it gets too cold, trout are very active fish chasing bait on the surface every spot I fished.

94121. After dark a 3 lb spotted bass and another largemouth just under 6 lbs. A wonderful husband/wife couple who has been traveling around the country. I spent a lot of time helping, un-sticking, and coaching but I still ended up with somewhere around 15 fish for the day. Even after a few hours of dark, the fish were not active as they were on my night trip two week ago. and could cast like he was mid 20's - no kidding!!! We changed from crank bait to worming at that point but no bites. We drop-shotted Robo worms in shad and morning dawn colors until about 11 am and then switched to spooning with Blade Runner 1 3/4 oz spoons mostly in the morning dawn color. We had a good time and he limited out with five nice bass. Neither had fished before. We used chatter baits, underspins, and texas rigs to produce the majority of our fish. The combination of submerged trees, grass, and chunk rock provided the best results. Caught about 8-9 largemouth (up to 3lbs) out of there in rapid succession then before I knew it they were gone and I couldn't get on top of them again in the general vicinity. Thanks,
Alex and I shared the sort-of big fish honors with a spot and largemouth that were just under 3 lbs. After many months of waiting to get back on the lake and fish this Memorial Day Weekend was perfect. This past week NorthBay Hospice & Bereavement honored Alfonso and his family at Steele Park. My game plan was to start on the east side near the ranch house but that quickly changed as we headed out and encountered white caps. It was strange to catch one of the big largemouth during the first 10 minutes of the trip on a hot evening. We caught a few in the 2 - 2 1/2 lb range. Buddy Doug ended the day with just two. Ok
Found a pretty large school of largemouth out in about 45-55' and went to work spooning. Last week they were everywhere!! we went thru white caps until we reached big island water was quitter and we started to catch fish ,call me will tell you the rest of fishing story. We found some on shallow flats near deep water and a few on points. I decided to go to the back of the Monticello ski school to be sheltered from the wind.

Best 5 about 12 lbs. Finally some clouds the next day. We threw topwater and soon I had a vicious hit and after a major tussle, landed a 3 + lb spotted bass. When they group up, you will catch every species of fish and they are a range of sizes. I found my best bite on the smaller Yamamoto Chigger Craw (green pumpkin). I think the sudden heat spell slowed the bite. Or pull over at one of Oregon’s Sno-Parks for cross-country skiing, sledding and tubing. Tips: Most of the bait i was seeing was micro in size, .5"-1" in size. Bachelor to simple slopes for beginners. Moved around quite a bit - still NO bait. This past Monday I took out Scott and Mark. Sid, Tips: keep trying until you find something that works;what worked for me was to fish while the full moon was out, Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility). Report: I took my first-ever (I think) clients from Iowa, who wanted to fish Lake Berryessa while they were in the area. If Clara would have just stop catching smallmouth early in the trip - we would have had a bigger limit! I continued on to the vineyards and still no bites. I usually don't join the Putah Creek crowd, so don't offer info on that area. Rest of fish on dropshot which made those first two bites a tease. Report: A friend and I hit Berryessa on Friday for about 6 hours and found the bite to be slow, but ok. Several in the 2 1/4 to near 3 lbs - all three species - with some fat smallies!
